Where's the party?

If you're going to have a birthday, you obviously must be having a party. At least, that's the way my two-year-old see's it. Today is my birthday and there was a major meltdown when I tried to explain that there was no party. After, I thought, "hey, where IS my party?". Because there should always be a party. That little guy is right! Of course, he was hoping for Chuck E. Cheese, or something along that line. I was hoping more for a day out at the spa, or anything peaceful. Well, no Chuck, and no spa. but thankfully my sweet neighbor brought over the most amazing three-tiered chocolate cake with pink m&m's all over it. She knows me so well. So mister 2-yrl.-old and I had a little ol' party of our own. He wanted cake SO badly, but shouted across the kitchen, "not yet mom! You hafta do da candols fust. Make a fire on dem." So we did. And he sang "happy birthday" as well as any little guy could, clapped as mama blew out the candles, and his little mouth watered. I think that was the best piece of cake I ever tasted.
